Family Health Center of Worcester, Inc. will hold our annual health fair/Bike Safety Day on Friday August 13, 2010 from 11am-2pm at our main location, 26 Queen St., Worcester, MA. We invite you to join us at this fun, family-oriented community event which aims to promote health, exercise, and the safe use of “green” transportation in our city. Over 600 neighborhood residents will attend Bike Safety Day to learn about personal health and safety, and injury prevention. Neighborhood health and social service agencies will join us and offer bike riding lessons, bike repair lessons, bike and road safety courses, and other activities for both children and adults who wish to learn to safely use bikes and skateboards as an affordable means of transportation. We will provide health education, free health screenings, as well as health benefits and enrollment assistance for the uninsured. Sponsorship opportunities include food, activities, and raffle prizes. This Bike Safety Day event is part of National Community Health Center Week. This week is set aside every year in August to recognize the important work of Community Health Centers in providing access to quality, affordable, comprehensive health care for our communities. Our nation’s health centers serve 20 million low-income people in 7,500 communities in all 50 states.
