Free immunizations will be available for students, pre-K through high school, who are returning to classes in the fall. Students will also be able to register for UCISD bus cards and school lunch programs. The Office of State Senator Carlos Uresti will provide 400 backpacks to be distributed free of charge. In addition to useful health information, the annual Wellness Fair features fun activities for the entire family such as door prizes, face painting, dunking booth, bean bag toss, duck pond, and very special guests. More than 40 partner agencies are joining with Our Health and UCISD to provide free wellness information covering a wide variety of health topics affecting the Southwest Texas population, from the common cold and allergies to more serious concerns such as skin cancer and obesity. Free screenings will be offered to children and adults for dental health, glaucoma, diabetes, and blood pressure. The Uvalde Police Department and the Uvalde County Sherriff’s Department will provide free security finger printing for children. Also a Health Care Roundtable, sponsored by Rep Rodriguez, with leading providers in the area will take place the same day from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm at the CHDI Conference Center.
